Steel making and automotive manufacturing remain a large part of the Youngstown-Warren area’s business environment, but the region has come a long way and now boasts a diversified, growing economy comprised of so much more!

The region is now commonly called “Voltage Valley.” Its largest employer, with more than 2,000 workers, is electric vehicle battery cell manufacturer, Ultium Cells LLC, a joint venture between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors.

Located less than a mile from Ultium Cells is Foxconn, the Fortune 25 company that acquired a 6.2 million-square-foot factory previously owned by General Motors Corp. The former internal combustion engine automotive plant now is being converted to a state-of-the-art EV manufacturing facility. Manufactured there today is the electric and autonomous Monarch MK-V farm tractor.

Also in Youngstown-Warren, America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, and other companies working closely under the technology-focused Youngstown Business Incubator umbrella strive to accelerate adoption of additive manufacturing and increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. America Makes is the nation’s leading public-private partnership for additive manufacturing technology and education.

Youngstown-Warren’s central location between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, is also halfway between Chicago and New York City, meaning it is within 500 miles of 50 percent of the U.S. population and over 60 percent of national purchasing income, including ten of the top 25 US metropolitan markets. That has made the area a prime location for development of warehouse and distribution centers like HomeGoods Distribution Center, Macy’s retail stores, and Anderson DuBose, a warehouse and distribution center for food and paper products, supplying hundreds of McDonald’s and Chipotle restaurants in four states.

Multiple hospitals and medical systems in the region mean competitive healthcare opportunities for both those in need of care and those who want to provide it.

Indeed, opportunities abound in Youngstown-Warren. Find yours here, where you belong!
